Context

Women in East Jerusalem face significant barriers to professional advancement and stable employment. Limited access to recognized Arabic-language training, financial constraints, family responsibilities, and the need to travel outside Jerusalem can leave many women dependent on temporary, physically demanding, or low-paid work. For mothers in particular, employment far from home can place additional pressure on family life and make long-term professional development difficult.

Accessible Women’s Education creates a practical pathway from education to dignified employment. Mini-Active brings recognized professional training directly into East Jerusalem, providing women with Arabic-language instruction in a women-only environment designed around their needs. Through partnerships with established academic and professional institutions, participants can earn recognized qualifications, strengthen their earning potential, and build a foundation for continued professional and academic advancement.

Strategies

Bring Professional Education Within Reach

Provide recognized professional training in Arabic, within Jerusalem and in a women-only environment. Courses are structured to reduce linguistic, geographic, cultural, and practical barriers that have historically limited women’s access to professional education.

Remove Financial Barriers

Make professional education financially accessible through reduced tuition and interest-free loans. Mini-Active secured a reduction in tuition from ₪15,000 to ₪10,000 per participant, while ten ₪10,000 interest-free loans are available based on socioeconomic need.

Create Pathways to Dignified Employment

Connect professional education with realistic employment opportunities in Jerusalem. The program prioritizes fields with demonstrated workforce demand, enabling participants to build recognized skills, increase their earning potential, and pursue stable careers while remaining close to their families and communities.
