About Us

Our Mission

Strengthening civil society, building communal resilience and alleviating urban inequities.

The Jerusalem Intercultural Center (JICC) is an independent, non-profit organization, established in 1999 with a vision for an inclusive, tolerant and vibrant Jerusalem for all.

JICC is the only civil society organization addressing the needs of all Jerusalemites by relating to the city as one urban unit. As such, JICC enjoys rare legitimacy with all major communities: Ultra-Orthodox, Modern Orthodox and Secular Jews, and Christian and Muslim Arabs, and empowers them to be active and effective in shaping their shared futures. We use the rich complexity and diversity of the City of Jerusalem to reduce friction and advance best practices of diversity, inclusion and equality in major agencies at local and national levels.

Our Projects

Health and the Environment

Implementing community-based health programs that are culturally sensitive, empowering Jerusalemites to change their physical surroundings and build emotional resilience.

Rights Fulfillment

Ensuring residents have access to the rights and services they are entitled to, whether that is navigating the complex health system or supporting residents to obtain necessary documentation and services.

Cultivating Shared Society

Reducing friction in mixed neighborhoods, particularly where tensions between Haredi and non-Haredi communities tend to run high.

Urban Resilience along the Seam Line

Cultivating a sense of personal safety for residents of Seam Line neighborhoods. Creating opportunities for Jerusalemites to be active in their communities.

Cultural Competency

Equipping institutions with the training and resources needed to effectively manage diversity in the workplace.
