Ready to Respond: 40 Community Volunteers Complete Emergency Response Training

After three intensive days of learning and hands-on training, 40 women and men successfully completed the SAAR (Preliminary Self-Assistance) emergency response course, strengthening a growing network of community volunteers prepared to step forward when emergencies occur.

The course was designed to equip volunteers with practical skills they can use when their communities need them most. Participants received training in first aid, rescue, emergency response, and rapid action, combining essential knowledge with practical exercises that prepared them to respond effectively under pressure.

Throughout the three days, participants did more than learn technical skills. They worked together, practiced responding to emergency scenarios, and strengthened the teamwork and sense of shared responsibility that are essential during a crisis.

In Jerusalem, where emergencies can develop quickly, community preparedness matters. Trained local volunteers can provide an important first layer of response, helping those around them while professional emergency services mobilize.

With 40 newly trained volunteers completing the course, another group of Jerusalem residents is now better equipped to support their families, neighbors, and communities when it matters most.

A more resilient city begins with people who are prepared to act.
